About Liz

Liz Antony is a studio owner and busy pop/jazz singer residing in Central Florida. Prior to moving to Florida in 2003, she  had been performing around the Cincinnati area since 1990.

Her formal training included studying jazz at Xavier University in Cincinnati, with John DeFore and vocals with classical soprano Harriet Beebe also at Xavier University. She also studied jazz vocals with Dr. Randy Pennington, former vocalist with "The Carpenters", now jazz and choral director at N. KY University.

With her husband Tom, Liz opened and ran Stork Music Productions a busy recording studio and independent jazz label that recorded many greats including New York's Gene Bertoncini, Kenny Poole, Peter Frampton, Philip Paul, and countless others. Their most recent project , "The Philip Paul Trio, Live At The Cincinnatian" was just released in November 2013.

Liz was the primary vocalist for many Cincinnati groups including the Maple Knoll Big Band, Spectrum rock band, and the 9 piece Marksbury dance band. She regularly did the Tall Stacks Riverboat festival. Liz also regularly subbed when bands needed a vocalist to come in and “just do the job”.

However, her first love was jazz standards. She enjoyed working with small jazz combo’s doing jazz clubs such as Chez Nora. Thus, her Premier CD “Cincinnati Standards” was reflection of this love and featured some of the best Cincinnati club musicians.
Liz’s second CD “No Moon At All”, produced by trumpeter Jerry Conrad featured arrangements written specifically for Liz and Jerry’s 18 piece orchestra by arrangers such as Gordy Brisker, former music director for Anita O’Day.  “Puttin’ OnThe Ritz” from this CD was selected to be part of the sound track of the Insignia Films Documentary “Las Vegas, An Unconventional History” aired nationally on PBS television in the fall of 2005.

Liz received a Cincinnati Enquirer Cammy Award as Cincinnati’s "Best Jazz Vocalist” in 2000 after the release of “No Moon At All”.

Liz’s third CD “ Duets” featured Liz and the late jazz guitarist Kenny Poole doing impromptu studio arrangements of jazz standards, some familiar, some more obscure.

Since moving to Florida, Liz has been busy singing with many groups including the Ocala’s Center Stage Big Band, Frank Parson’s Big Band, The Charles Matthews Orchestra, Fred Noone’s Polaris Big Band, the St. Petersburg Clearwater Community Orchestra, Lloyd John’s Gulf Lake Big Band, The Ten O’Clock Big Band, Bill Prang’s Encore IV Big Band, The Frankie D New York Orchestra, and The TomKats Jazz Orchestra. Her jazz quartet “Gardenia” has been a regular at the “Jazz Up Dunnellon” music festival.

Liz’s CDs are available at www.CDbaby.com. Many of Liz’s songs are available for download on internet music sites such as Rhapsody and Apple’s  ITunes.
